Azospirillum

A free living nitrogen fixing bacteria closely associated with grasses. Azospirillum Bacteria is a gram negative motile bacteria associated with roots of monocots. It fixes the atmospheric nitrogen and makes it available to plants in a non-symbiotic manner that can replace 50% of the nitrogen fertilizer required by plants. It also secretes some fungicides ,enzymes but in a minute amount.

Fixes the available nitrogen within the soil and makes it available to the plants.
Reduces usage of nitrogen fertilizer required by plant.
It also produces fungicides , enzymes but in very low quantity.
Increases crop productivity on a large scale.
Azospirillum is very beneficial for monocot vegetables.
It also produces biologically active substances like vitamins, nicotinic acids, indole acetic acid, gibberellins etc which helps in better retention of flowering and enhances the plant growth.
