Paecilomyces Lilacinus Technical

Paecilomyces is a cosmopolitan fungus that is mainly known for its nematophagous capacity, but it has also been reported as an insect parasite and biological control agent of several fungi and phytopathogenic bacteria through different mechanisms of action

In addition, species of this genus have recently been described as biostimulants of plant growth and crop yield. This review includes all the information on the genus Paecilomyces as a biological control agent for pests and diseases. Its growth rate and high spore production rate in numerous substrates ensure the production of viable, affordable, and efficient commercial formulations for agricultural use.

Paecilomyces lilacinus is an endoparasitic fungus. It is an important natural enemy of some plant-parasitic nematodes. It can parasitize eggs and infect larvae and females. Reduce the harm caused by plant nematodes such as cyst nematodes and stem nematodes.

Paecilomyces lilacinus products used in overcoming nematodes problem in a natural way, it can also be used in soil improvement, root zone protection helps defend the root-knot and other diseases caused by nematodes.
In large-scale agricultural production, growers are often plagued by nematode problems. Common chemical nematicides do not only damage the soil structure, and the nematodes also develop resistance.
However, nematodes will have no measures to deal with the natural microorganism – Paecilomyces lilacinus, they just can only be forgotten in the soil forever.

Paecilomyces lilacinus products are recognized as bioinsecticide, biocontrol microbial fertilizers, root growth protectors, and soil improvement agents.

Paecilomyces lilacinus is available for many kinds of crops susceptible to nematode infection, like tomato, cucumber, peanut, rice, maize vegetables, and fruit trees.

  • Paecilomyces lilacinus can produce abundant derivatives, similar to indole acetic acid, which can promote the growth of plant roots and plants. Therefore, the application of Paecilomyces lilacinus in crops’ roots can not only significantly inhibit nematode infestation, but also promote vegetative organs. It also promotes the germination and growth of seeds.
  • It can produce abundant chitinase. Chitinase can degrade chitin. It can promote the hatching of nematode eggs and increase the parasitic rate of paecilomyces to nematodes.
  • Paecilomyces lilacinus can also promote the decomposition of many chemical polymers (such as pesticides, tannery wastewater, etc.), which proves that this product has certain environmental protection effects.
